With rECOBIOpack, ILSA is helping to enhance the value of by-products from the coffee industry

ILSA is contributing to an important scientific study highlighting the potential of coffee silverskin — a by-product of the coffee roasting process — as a valuable resource for high-end applications in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and packaging sectors. Thanks to our supercritical CO₂ extraction technology, first optimized in the lab and then successfully scaled up to industrial level, we obtained a lipid fraction rich in bioactive compounds. The results confirm the effectiveness of this sustainable process for reusing biomass within a circular economy model.
