ILSA among the founding partners of MILE – Museum of Interactive Leather Experience

03/10/2025

Last Saturday 27 September 2025, Arzignano celebrated the inauguration of MILE – Museum of Interactive Leather Experience, the first interactive museum in Italy dedicated to the leather supply chain. This unique project was born from the collaboration between the leading players of the Veneto Leather District, including ILSA, which actively contributed to its creation as a founding partner.

The MILE Museum highlights the central role of the Veneto district, one of the most important in Europe in terms of production value, responsible for over 60% of Italy’s leather industry turnover. The event welcomed more than 300 guests, including Italy’s Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, underscoring the national significance of the initiative.

Also attending the event was Franco Cavazza, Industrial Director of ILSA and EMEA Sustainability Lead for Huber AgroSolutions, who emphasized the deep connection between ILSA and the leather district: “From what is classified as waste under environmental regulations—namely leather trimmings and shavings —ILSA has identified a resource: a raw material rich in organic matter, proteins and noble amino acids of great value.”

Founded nearly 70 years ago, ILSA has built its identity around a virtuous model of circular economy, transforming leather industry by-products into sustainable solutions for agriculture and other industrial sectors. The MILE Museum now stands as a tangible symbol of this synergy between businesses, institutions and the local territory.

“The future of this district lies in continuing to innovate, collaborate, and represent—at both European and global levels—a sector that successfully combines production excellence, sustainability, and development,” Cavazza added.
